Commerce stores product prices, eligible promotions, and actual payments as separate records. This structure separates a price quote from its payment result.

Business value

Commerce separates product definitions, benefit rules, and payment results. AI and agents use the same active products and promotions. This reduces inconsistent prices between channels. Administrators can compare offered prices with completed payments.

Examples

Example: A monthly membership launch. Publish a monthly product and a one-time trial. Connect a first-month amount discount to the new content. Compare trial quotes, membership conversions, and first-month benefit uses.

Example: A service bundle. Combine one consultation, three service visits, and one follow-up. Review the displayed price after changing a component quantity. Connect the bundle and collected amount to the payment. Then compare the quote with collection.

Product types

TypeUse it for
One-timeSell a service or item once.
RecurringSell a monthly or yearly product.
UsageManage pricing by an amount of use.
BundleSell several products and quantities together.

A product has Draft, Active, or Archived status. Customers and AI can offer only active products. Products with inventory also track remaining quantities. You can connect customer-facing content to a product.

A bundle contains component products, quantities, and display order. A bundle can include another bundle. Review the offered bundle price after changing components or prices.

Promotion structure

A promotion can combine an event, coupon, and benefit. A benefit sets a fixed price, percentage discount, amount discount, or gift. It can cover one-time products, recurring products, or both.

A recurring benefit can apply only to the first number of months. You can set start and end dates, coupon codes, usage limits, and other conditions. Test the final price when benefits can stack.

A promotion can cover the organization or selected content. When a customer provides a visit date, Laney checks eligibility for that date instead of today.

Price quotes and payments

A price quote uses the official localized product name. It also shows quantity, applied promotions, and the final amount. Laney stores each amount with its currency.

A payment has Pending, Completed, or Voided status. It stores the customer, product, quantity, amount, and currency. It can also connect a reservation and promotion. Selecting a product can fill an empty amount from the current price. Always confirm the final collection result from the payment status.

Selling options of the same product

When scope or included usage changes the price, add a sales option from the product's related records. Keep one product and record each option's scope, price, billing cycle, included quantity and overage rate. Draft options are under review; only active options can be selected for a new payment.

Selecting a fixed-price option with no explicit amount fills in its price multiplied by quantity. Starting prices, custom quotes and usage pricing require an agreed amount. Recording included usage and overage rates does not initiate automatic collection.

A payment with an option preserves its name, scope, amount and included products. Once used, the option's terms cannot be edited; create a new option for changed terms. Finalized payment terms also remain fixed. Record customer-specific scope, agreement references and service dates on the payment.
