Mobile app and notifications

Understand the mobile app and notifications

Learn how Laney installation, device push permission, and Query notification rules work together.

ExplanationVerified Aug 9, 2026Owner Laney Product

The Laney mobile app is a Progressive Web App (PWA) installed from dashboard.laney.app. It uses the same account, organization scope, and data as the dashboard. The installed app opens in its own window and can receive Web Push notifications. No app store download is required.

How a notification reaches a device

A reservation Query notification needs every condition below.

  1. The user enables Laney notifications on the current device.
  2. Workspace push is on for the current workspace.
  3. A reservation enters an active notification Query.
  4. The current time is outside Quiet hours.

A Query rule is not a timer that searches reservations continuously. It checks one reservation when an insert, update, or delete event occurs. Use a heartbeat trigger when elapsed time alone must find the record.

Device and workspace settings

SettingScopeResult when off
This deviceCurrent browser or installed appRemoves push delivery from this device only.
Workspace pushCurrent account and workspaceKeeps Query rules but stops app delivery for this workspace.
Quiet hoursCurrent account and workspaceSuppresses normal notifications during the saved local time.
Reservation notification QueryRule owner and workspaceNotifies the owner's installed devices when a reservation enters the rule.

Laney sends to each active device when one account enables notifications on several devices. A test notification verifies the device connection. It ignores workspace delivery and quiet hours.

Operating value and measures

Mobile notifications let operators review important reservation changes without keeping the dashboard open. Narrow Queries reduce noise by selecting only changes that need attention.

Do not measure notification count alone. Compare matching reservations, review time, and missed work.
