Configure app notifications
Configure device delivery, workspace delivery, quiet hours, and a first reservation notification Query.
App and notifications separates the current device connection from workspace delivery policy. A reservation Query rule selects changes that need review instead of sending every change.
Before you begin
- Install Laney on the current device and sign in.
- Select a test workspace that contains a synthetic customer and reservation.
- Rule creation requires workflow creation, step creation, and member notification permissions.
Open App and notifications
Open the existing Laney settings menu and select App and notifications.
Test the current device
Under This device, select Enable and test notifications. If the device is already connected, select Send test notification. Allow the system permission request.
Set workspace delivery
Turn on Workspace push to receive Query notifications. Turning it off keeps every rule but stops app delivery for this workspace.
Set quiet hours
Turn on Quiet hours to stop normal notifications outside working hours. Enter the start and end times. Confirm the displayed time zone. The range can cross midnight.
Create the first reservation rule
Under Reservation notification Query, select Add. Enter VIP reservation confirmed
for the name. Select Reservation update under When to check.
Add Query rows
Add the two rows below. Laney combines all condition rows with AND.
| Field | Operator | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Reservation status | Equals | confirmed |
| Notes | Pattern match, ignore case | %VIP% |
Select Save.
Verify with a synthetic reservation
Create a synthetic pending reservation with VIP in its notes. Change its status to
confirmed. Confirm that one notification arrives. Do not use a real reservation for this test.
Check the result
- This device shows an enabled state and receives the test notification.
- The
VIP reservation confirmedrule is active. - One notification arrives when the synthetic reservation changes from
pendingtoconfirmed. - An update without
VIP, or an update that remainsconfirmed, produces no extra notification.
Setting precedence
| Setting | Required state | Check after failure |
|---|---|---|
| This device | On | Browser or operating system permission for Laney |
| Workspace push | On | Confirm the selected workspace |
| Reservation notification Query | Active | Review the event, field, operator, and value |
| Quiet hours | Current time outside the range | Review time zone and an overnight range |
Send test notification verifies only the device connection. It ignores workspace delivery and quiet hours. If the test works but a Query notification does not, check the other three settings first.
If Add or editing controls are absent, the current role lacks one or more rule permissions. An organization administrator must review the workflow and notification permissions for that role.
Review Reservation notification Query examples for more conditions. If saving continues to fail, collect the information listed in Troubleshooting.
