Create your first automation
Find confirmed reservations after their start time and mark them as no-show.
This tutorial creates a heartbeat workflow. It finds confirmed reservations after 30 minutes and marks them as no-show. Use a synthetic reservation in a test organization.
Business purpose and measures
This automation reduces the need to find past reservations and change them by hand. More importantly, it applies one no-show standard across branches. Failed work remains available for review. For every run, review selected reservations, successes, failures, duplicates, and exceptions changed by staff.
Before you begin
- You need permission to manage workflows and reservations.
- Prepare a confirmed test reservation that started over 30 minutes ago.
- Record the current status and ID of the test reservation.
Create the workflow
Open Workflows in the dashboard. Create an item named No-show test. Select heartbeat
as the trigger. Keep active status off until the configuration is ready.
Add the reservation list step
Select reservations.list for the first step. Name it find. Enter this query.
where:
status: { in: [confirmed] }
starts_at: { lt: "now-30m" }
limit: 50Add the status update step
Select reservations.update for the second step. Name it mark. Set the iteration source
to ${steps.find.rows}. Enter this input.
id: "${item.id}"
values:
status: no_showReview the configuration
Confirm that the first step selects only confirmed. Confirm that the second step changes
the status to no_show. This change prevents repeat selection.
Activate and inspect the run
Confirm the test organization and reservation again. Activate the workflow. Open the run history and inspect each step status and selected row count.
Confirm the result
- The test reservation changes from
confirmedtono_showonce. - The workflow run and both steps show success.
- The next run does not select the same reservation.
- Reservations outside the condition do not change.
Read Runs and repeat safety before production use. Review the query scope and row limit.
